Why The Tea Marketplace
In 2023, Pekoe Tea Company was born out of a simple but deeply held belief: that everyone deserves access to the world’s most extraordinary teas — not just the ones that make it onto supermarket shelves. We set out to build something different: an online marketplace where quality, curiosity, and the joy of discovery sit at the heart of every cup.
But Pekoe was never meant to be just a shop. From the very beginning, we wanted to build something bigger — a platform that works both ways. Because while tea lovers across Australia were missing out on remarkable teas they didn’t know existed, there was an equally quiet problem on the other side: talented small tea growers, blenders, and independent tea businesses with exceptional products and no easy way to reach the people who would love them.
We know how hard it is to build a small tea business. The craft, the sourcing, the passion — all of it can go unnoticed when you’re competing for shelf space against big brands with big budgets. Pekoe exists to change that.
